Trigger Warning Guidelines
Quote from Chris on June 23, 2025, 10:36 pm⚠️ Trigger Warning Guidelines
To keep KeepBeingNice.co.uk safe and respectful for everyone, we ask all members to use trigger warnings when discussing sensitive topics.
🔹 What is a Trigger Warning?
A trigger warning (TW) is a short notice placed before content that could cause emotional distress, especially for people with mental health struggles or past trauma.
📝 How to Use a Trigger Warning:
Start your post or paragraph like this:
Example:
TW: Self-harm
I've been having a hard time lately and wanted to talk about it...
You can also use:
TW: Suicide
TW: Abuse
TW: Eating disorders
TW: PTSD
TW: Violence
TW: Psychosis
TW: Death / Loss
Be clear and specific if you can, and give a little space (a line or two) before writing the sensitive part so people can choose whether to keep reading.
❗Why It Matters:
Some topics can be upsetting or triggering, especially for people healing from trauma or with certain diagnoses. This small step helps others feel safer and in control of their own experience.
Thanks for being thoughtful. ❤️
